Calling All Students: Showcase Your Research at the 2026 NJAFM Annual Conference!

Are you a college student researching floodplain management, coastal resilience, stormwater management, climate adaptation, or a related field? Share your work with professionals in the field at the 2026 New Jersey Association of Floodplain Management (NJAFM) Annual Conference!

NJAFM is excited to host its inaugural Student Poster and Lightning Talk Competition, offering undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to present their research, connect with industry professionals, and compete for cash prizes.

Two $1,000 prizes will be awarded:

  • Best Undergraduate Poster/Talk Combination

  • Best Graduate Poster/Talk Combination

Who Should Participate?

Undergraduate and graduate students conducting research related to floodplain management, water resources, coastal resilience, climate adaptation, stormwater management, environmental science, engineering, planning, or other related fields are encouraged to participate.

Whether you're presenting ongoing research, a class project, or the results of a completed study, this is an opportunity to share your work with professionals dedicated to building more resilient communities.

Competition Details

Abstract Submission Deadline: September 22, 2026

Conference: October 20–22, 2026

Location: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey

Student Poster Session: Tuesday, October 20, at 5:00 p.m., concurrent with the Cracker Barrel Consulting Session.

Lightning Talk Session: Wednesday, October 21, from 2:00–3:15 p.m. in the Seminole Ballroom.

Students participating in the lightning talk competition must also present a poster. Poster presenters should plan to remove their posters by Thursday, October 22, at 1:00 p.m. Please note that poster printing facilities will not be available at the conference.
